Nicolet High School would like to thank Coach Gus Kaufmann for his years of service and dedication to Nicolet High School. Coach Kaufmann recently resigned as the Nicolet Head Wrestling Coach, a position he held for the past 21 years. He plans to spend more time coaching his own children in the Nicolet Jr. Knights youth wrestling program, which he was instrumental in developing. Coach Kaufmann led the Nicolet wrestling program to unprecedented levels of individual and team success. He coached teams to a NSC (North Shore Conference) Dual Conference Championship, a NSC Conference Championship, 3 Regional Championships, a Sectional Championship, a Team State Tournament berth and 120 dual meet victories, most in school history. He also coached 36 individual state qualifiers including 4 state finalists and 2 state champions. Gus also served 16 years as the pole vault coach for the track teams, taking 10 pole vaulters to the State Tournament. "It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as the Nicolet Head Wrestling Coach for 21 years. I have a tremendous sense of pride in the program, the school and the community. The support and time many people have committed to Nicolet Wrestling over the years is what has gotten us to where we are today. It is now my turn to coach at the youth and middle school level while supporting the high school program into the future," said Kaufmann. A search for a new coach has begun, information can be found on WECAN.

The Wolf: villain or victim? The Three Pigs: innocent or at fault? The Jurors (Miss Muffet, Bo Peep, Cinderella and Humpty-Dumpty, to name a few): solid citizens or characters with a past? And what about Judge Wise O. Al? Is justice on his side—or does he have a secret to hide? Then there's the media—a reporter, newscaster and town crier. Have they come to accurately report the proceedings—or to turn the courtroom into a media circus? And who is that surprise witness at the end? The answers to these profound questions and even more are revealed once and for all in this rollicking, fun-filled, action-packed trial-of-the-century.

Nicolet junior Tyler Friedel has been named a Congress-Bundestag Scholar for the 2023-24 school year. CBYX scholars serve as youth ambassadors for the United States, sharing our culture with Germans and bringing the German culture back home. CBYX scholars live with German host families and attend school.
In addition to an interest in German, CBYX winners need to be well-rounded individuals with strong communication skills and intercultural awareness. Tyler’s selection is an affirmation of the academic and co-curricular programs here at Nicolet. In German, he has been active in the German Club, the German Honor Society and the AATG Pronunciation Contest. He is also a Spanish 4H student and a dedicated member of our tennis and ski programs.
Tyler is the 18th Nicolet German student to be selected for this program in the last twenty years. Jack Drouhin is currently studying in Arnsberg, Westphalia. Soph Franecki spent fall of 2021 in Berlin. Other recent winners are Octavia Grimes and Anja DuPlessis (2019) Francisco Cid-Rodriguez and Caroline Marowski (2018) Maria Graziano (2017) and Robert McCracken (2016). Junior Leyla Emir was also chosen for the program, but has elected to stay at Nicolet for her senior year.
This week is National Assistant Principals Week.
